The Bonnet Bay Club is proud of  the place it plays in local sport & the lives of many of the  community. Unfortunately, some people fail to live up to the traditional  values of sport. To ensure everyone, but especially young people have  an enjoyable experience & develop good sporting behaviour the  Committee of the Bonnet Bay Sports Club Inc endorse the following codes  of behaviour and will make every effort to ensure they are adhered to

PLAYERS

  • Always play by the rules &  spirit of the game
  • Never argue with an umpire /  official
  • Control your temper. Verbal  abuse of umpires/officials, foul language, sledging, distracting &  provoking an opponent are not acceptable or permitted behaviours in any  sport
  • Do not abuse equipment (yours  or others) or cause damage to private property
  • Co-operate with your team  officials & team mates
  • Be a good sport. Acknowledge  good play from your own team & the opposition
  • Respect the rights, dignity  and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability,  cultural background or religion

COACHES

  • Always play by the rules &  spirit of the game and teach your players to do the same
  • Never argue with an umpire /  official. If you need to question a decision do it in the appropriate  manner, and teach your players to do the same
  • Remember young people play for  fun and winning is only part of the fun
  • Obtain appropriate  qualifications & keep up to date with latest coaching practices
  • Never ridicule or yell at a  young player for making a mistake, and avoid overplaying the talented  players; the just average players need & deserve equal time
  • Ensure any physical contact  with a young person is appropriate to the situation & necessary for  the players skill development
  • Ensure equipment &  facilities are safe and appropriate to the age of your players
  • Be a positive role model;  Applaud good play from your own team & the opposition
  • Ensure your language &  behaviour is appropriate when around young children
  • Respect the rights, dignity  and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability,  cultural background or religion

PARENTS

  • Remember children play sport  for enjoyment
  • Encourage children to  participate, don’t force them
  • Focus on the child’s efforts  & performances rather than winning & losing
  • Respect the official’s  decisions, and teach your child to do the same. Encourage them to be  good sports & play by the rules
  • Never ridicule or yell at a  young player for making a mistake
  • Remember children learn best  by example, applaud good performances & skilful play from all  participants and show appreciation & thanks to the volunteer coaches  & officials who make it possible for your child to participate
  • Do not use foul language,  sledge or harass players, coaches, officials or other spectators
  • Respect the rights, dignity  and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability,  cultural background or religion

SPECTATORS

  • Remember people play sport for  enjoyment, and your presence can be a positive contribution or an  “ugly” distraction
  • Applaud good performances  & efforts from all individuals & teams. Congratulate all  participants regardless of the game’s outcome
  • Respect the official’s  decisions
  • Do not use foul language,  sledge or harass players, coaches, officials or other spectators
  • Remember children learn best  by example… So make it a good one
  • Respect the rights, dignity  and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability,  cultural background or religion
